On October 21, the closing ceremony of the XIX World Festival of Youth and Students took place. In fact, it consisted of two parts: first, the grand show “Russia” took place at Medals Plaza, introducing those gathered to the cultural diversity of the peoples inhabiting our country, and then the final performance took place at the Bolshoi Ice Palace, the main characters of which were the forum participants themselves. .

Vladimir Putin greeted those gathered at the Rossiya show. During these days, progressive youth participated in a discussion program and events, exchanged experiences, beliefs and ideas. The success of the festival is not reflected in figures and facts - it can only be reflected in the meanings that young people can convey from Russia and from the festival to their countries,” said Papadimitriou. He also separately thanked the Russians, the organizers and Vladimir Putin personally for the work done.

The main characters of the closing ceremony were the festival participants and... music - as one of the main elements that unites people around the world. That is why, starting from the first seconds of the ceremony, a huge rock orchestra appeared on stage under the direction of Alexander and Nikita Pozdnyakov, consisting of festival participants. During the show, he performed world-famous hits in rock arrangements.

At the same time, the audience was also involved in this huge musical flash mob. The lyrics of the songs were displayed on the board, and the whole audience sang along to them. In addition, various tasks were displayed on the screens: people were asked to make a wave, freeze like a mannequin in a certain position, and also hug or kiss the person sitting next to them.

And yet, the main characters of the ceremony were the festival participants, who took turns on stage, read poetry and uttered warm and sincere words addressed to the guests, friends and festival organizers. “I feel that each of the participants wants to change the world for the better and achieve equality in the world. At this festival, I felt the unity, solidarity and kindness of young people from all over the world. We can say that youth made this festival for youth,” one of the participants of WFYS 2017, Enrique Dominguez from Brazil, addressed the audience. This is the youngest man who lost his sneakers at the festival. They were looked for literally by the whole world, presented at WFMS 2017, but were never found. However, a surprise awaited Enrique at the closing ceremony.

“During the week of the festival, we had one unpleasant story: Enrique, who had just performed on this stage, lost his sneakers. Everyone helped him look for them... Of course, we couldn’t let him leave the festival and we are giving him a gift,” said Ksenia Razuvaeva, head of the Directorate for the preparation and holding of the festival, and handed the guest from Brazil a bag with new white sneakers.

Ksenia Razuvaeva also noted that UN volunteers took part in organizing the festival for the first time in the history of the movement. One of them, Shreya Bose from India, took the stage during the closing ceremony. “As one of five thousand Volunteers of the World, I can say with confidence that each of us put a piece of our soul into the work that we did together. It didn’t matter what role each of us played, everyone worried and rejoiced with you! We shared a variety of moments with you and are glad that we were able to benefit such a grand event,” she said.

The closing ceremony once again emphasized that if a person has a goal and a dream, then nothing will prevent them from being realized. At one point in the evening, WFYS 2017 participant from Chad Ndolegulum Jasrabe Hervé appeared on stage and performed the unofficial anthem of the festival. “The problem of modern technologies is acute in Chad; they are practically not integrated into life in the country. Therefore, young people often feel lonely and abandoned, and I decided to write this song so that people around the world will pay attention to us and perhaps support us. I was born into a poor family and set myself the goal of doing well in school because it was the only way for me to succeed and support my family,” Hervé said from the stage. Performing a song at the closing ceremony of the festival was Ndolegulum Jasrabe Hervé's dream, and now that dream has come true.

Participants of the Youth Festival will plant a tree of “friendship and solidarity” in a new park in Sochi

The opening ceremony of the park will take place on October 20 at 17:00. The square is located next to the famous arboretum at the intersection of Kurortny Prospekt and Jan Fabricius Street. It was created in memory of the XIX World Festival of Youth and Students in Sochi.
Guests of honor are expected who, together with Festival delegates from different countries, will leave a “green autograph” on the central area of ​​the park - they will plant an eight-year-old Rostrata eucalyptus, which will become a symbol of interethnic friendship and solidarity. This tree is fast-growing, unpretentious and can withstand frosts down to -12 degrees. It is evergreen and, according to dendrologists, will perfectly complement the Sochi urban landscape.
As previously reported, the site for the park began to be prepared in advance. The land plot was cleared, dozens of tons of garbage, emergency trees and cuttings of greenery were removed, pipes were laid for the drainage system to drain groundwater, almost 700 sq.m of paving stones were laid, walking paths were concreted, parking nearby was arranged, 60 street lighting poles were installed, and six crossings with stairs, the existing bridge over the canal has been “strengthened”.

The Festival of Youth and Students in Sochi has ended: 30 thousand young people from all over the world gathered for a week in our country. Lectures, seminars, joint projects. Discussion of the future includes technology, politics, and what society will be like. They developed a common vision.

Today these guys are studying or just starting to work, and tomorrow, the day after tomorrow they will occupy serious positions in their countries - in business, in politics. Without cooperation there will be trouble, Vladimir Putin said in his speech at a meeting of the Valdai Club. Western politicians are captured by stereotypes. But these young people will destroy stereotypes. These young people understand that justice is needed, huge inequality needs to be overcome. We need to work together. And don't scare each other.

They were sure that something extraordinary awaited them in Russia. But this turned out to be beyond expectations. The whole week is breathtaking! Sochi-2017.

Don't make excuses and dream big, even if your parents don't believe in you. Mine thought I was crazy when I said I wanted to be a speaker. The stars came to the festival for a frank conversation. What is the strength and who is the hero of our time? The writer Frederic Beigbeder could become an anti-example. “Regardless of what we do or will do in the future, do you know what it is? This is the moral component of our business. Anyone. Genetic engineering is so good. But there is another component to this process. What does it mean? This means that a person acquires the ability to get into the genetic code created either by nature, or people with religious views say - by God. What practical consequences can come from this? This means that it is already possible to imagine it, not even very theoretically, but it is already possible to practically imagine that a person can create a person with given characteristics. This could be a brilliant mathematician, it could be a brilliant musician, but it could also be a military man. A person who can fight without fear and without feelings of compassion, regret and without pain. And what I just said can be worse than a nuclear bomb. When we do something and no matter what we do, I want to repeat this thought again: we must never forget about the moral and ethical foundations of our work. Everything we do should benefit people, strengthen people, and not destroy them,” the Russian President emphasized.

The XIX World Festival of Youth and Students will be held in Russia in 2017.

This decision was made February 7, 2016 The World Federation of Democratic Youth and international student organizations at an international consultative meeting on the holding of the XIX Festival. The application of youth organizations to host the Festival was submitted by Rosmolodezh on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin in November 2015.

For the third time in the history of the festival movement, Russia will become the host of the largest international event in the field of youth interaction. It is especially important for us that 2017 is an anniversary year not only for the festival itself (the first one took place in 1947), but also for Russian history. We first opened our doors to the youth of the entire planet 60 years ago. The Moscow scale then amazed the world and in many ways became a reference point and a high bar for future festival capitals.

By preserving all the best festival traditions and synthesizing them with important modern trends, Russia will once again become a hospitable host for representatives of all continents!

Festival infrastructure

All main events of the festival will take place on the territory of the modern Olympic Park, which was built in the Imereti Lowland in Sochi. The infrastructure has been created in such a way that it essentially represents a “city within a city”: participants will stay in comfortable hotels, and discussion platforms, work centers and leisure facilities will be within walking distance. Well-established air services connect Sochi with Moscow and dozens of other cities, and with the help of modern railway transport you can easily reach the city center or Rosa Khutor, the so-called Mountain Cluster.

The population of this “micro-city”, together with all the students, teachers and staff, is approaching one hundred thousand. The vast square in front of the University is formed by the intersection of several streets and a large park.

This is a favorite walking place not only for students, but also for all Muscovites and tourists. Of course, from the lookout on the Vorobyovs - the whole city is at your fingertips! Olympic Park, Sochi

Before the Olympics in Sochi, the world was perplexed: how can winter competitions be held in a subtropical climate? It's simple! Directly by the sea, among the palm trees, the Olympic Park was built with indoor stadiums and facilities, inside of which their own microclimate was created.

The “World Festival of Youth and Students 2017” will be held in Olympic Sochi, and the ceremonial parade of delegations will be held in Moscow.

More than 20,000 young people from 150 countries aged 18 to 35 will participate in the XIX World Festival of Youth and Students 2017. Young leaders from different fields will gather on one platform: representatives of youth public organizations, young journalists, creative and sports youth, young engineers and IT specialists, leaders of youth organizations of political parties, young entrepreneurs, student government leaders, young scientists and university teachers, and also compatriots and foreigners studying the Russian language and interested in Russian culture.

The festival starts on October 14 with a ceremonial meeting of festival guests in Moscow at the carnival parade. After the carnival, a grandiose concert “Music of the First at Luzhniki” will take place, in which stars of the domestic pop scene will take part.

Popular music stars will perform at the opening ceremony: Dima Bilan, Nyusha, Polina Gagarina, Sergey Lazarev, Alexander Panayotov, Quest Pistols Show, Tina Kuznetsova, Guru Groove Foundation, Lena Katina, Morandi. The headliner of the ceremony is the band OneRepublic!

On October 21, the Closing Ceremony of the festival will take place at the Bolshoi Ice Palace in Sochi. Registration for the festival of youth and students

Every interested young person can register for the festival of youth and students 2017 on the official website of the festival - russia2017.com. As of October 1, 2016, more than 1,000 young people had already applied to participate in the festival.

On October 1, the international stage of recruiting participants started on the English version of the festival website. Citizens of most countries in the world will be able to apply for participation. The official uniform of the festival was designed by designer Igor Chapurin. He set himself the task of creating a complete picture of all the people who will be present at #WFMS2017: participants, volunteers, organizers and guests.
The uniform is made in the official colors of the festival. In the manufacture of equipment, the most complex modern technologies of the clothing industry were used: waterproof zippers, 3D logo application, a combination of appliqués and embroidery.

The uniform was presented by famous Russian actors, TV presenters, athletes, musicians, including special correspondent of the “Evening Urgant” show Alla Mikheeva, TV presenter Aurora, actresses Ekaterina Varnava and Nadezhda Sysoeva, winner of the title “Miss World 2008” Ksenia Sukhinova, creative producer of #VFMS2017 Ilya Bachurin and singer Mitya Fomin. Headliner for the opening ceremony has been announced

From July 11 to 17, the election of the headliner of the #WFYS2017 opening ceremony among the performers Ellie Goulding, Rita Ora, OneRepublic and The Black Eyed Peas was held by popular vote. On July 18, it became known that according to the results of the popular vote, the group OneRepublic became the winner and headliner of the World Festival of Youth and Students.

Folk Museum of the Festival

On June 6, the project “People's Museum of the Festival” starts, dedicated to the XIX World Festival of Youth and Students (WFYS). Over the course of a month, an exhibition will be formed, which will open on July 7 at the Museum of Moscow. Anyone can bring souvenirs left over from the Moscow festivals of 1957 and 1985 to the collection point that opened in the museum. In October, the exhibition will be presented at WFMS-2017 in Sochi.

On October 14, 2016, celebratory events were held in Moscow, Sochi and other cities of Russia to coincide with the launch of the countdown - One Year to the World Festival of Youth and Students 2017. On December 14, 2016, the capital hosted a forum of student associations "Moscow Students" entitled "Towards the XIX World Festival of Youth and Students."

On January 19, 2017, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin signed the Decree “On the preparation and holding of the XIX World Festival of Youth and Students.” The Organizing Committee of #WFMS2017 was formed by decree. First Deputy Head of the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation Sergei Kiriyenko was appointed its Chairman.

On January 30 and 31, 2017, a presentation of the upcoming XIX World Festival of Youth and Students took place in New York as part of the Youth Forum of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), which opened at the UN headquarters. The Russian delegation was led by the head of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs, Alexey Palamarchuk. During his speech, he invited forum participants to take part in thematic side events on the sidelines of #ECOSOC on January 30 and 31 and spoke about #WFMS2017. “The festival will welcome completely different youth from different countries, different continents with different cultures, with different views, but they are all united in their desire to make our world a better place!” - Palamarchuk emphasized. Following the presentation of the youth festival, the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General for Youth, Ahmad Al-Hendawi, spoke. According to TASS, he said that the festival will help the peoples of the world unite and overcome the problems facing humanity: “We stand for bringing people closer together, for bringing young people closer together. At a time when there are so many complexities and difficulties in world politics, I count on people can come together and try to chart a new path forward based on mutual understanding, recognition of each other, and the ability of people to act as peacemakers and promote (socio-economic) development,” he said.

On February 8, the 1st meeting of the Organizing Committee for the preparation and holding of the XIX World Festival of Youth and Students was held in Moscow. Under the chairmanship of First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Sergei Kiriyenko, the meeting participants discussed the progress of preparations for the Festival and formulated the tasks of the organizing committee for the future.

On February 6, Sergei Kiriyenko approved the composition of the Organizing Committee. The National Preparatory Committee is represented by its chairman, Grigory Petushkov. On behalf of the Chairman of the Organizing Committee Sergei Kiriyenko, specific tasks will be worked out and formulated in a short time for the joint work of the preparatory structures of the Festival and federal executive authorities. “It is necessary to formulate precise and specific tasks for joint development. I propose to do this within two weeks. The Federal Agency for Youth Affairs will be the main coordinator and organizer,” emphasized the Chairman of the Organizing Committee.

The festival venues were the Olympic Park and various objects. Every day there were lectures, panel discussions, master classes, business games, sports and art, music, dance, literature, cinema. It is noteworthy that a festival participant could visit any venue, even not in his field; in this regard, the participants were given freedom.
The festival was attended by various star speakers, for example: Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergei Lavrov, Commissioner for Children's Rights of the Russian Federation Anna Kuznetsova, head of the LDPR faction Vladimir Zhirinovsky, Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Veronika Skvortsova, Australian motivational speaker with the absence of four limbs Nick Vujicic, French writer Frederic Beigbeder , actor Sergei Bezrukov, athletes Elena Isinbaeva, Alexander Karelin, Sergei Karyakin... and many others who explained, taught and inspired us!

Unfortunately, for us, deaf participants, there were no professional Russian Sign Language interpreters, and for Christophe - an International Sign Language interpreter. They provided only two volunteers who knew only a little sign language and, accordingly, complex topics and terminology were not translated as desired. Because of this, there was a shortage and distortion of information; we did not receive it fully, because there were many sites, the deaf dispersed, volunteers were not always with us, and in the end we had to get out ourselves. It’s good that Vera Samsonova and Anna Prokhorenko were hard of hearing, and at some sites they were able to translate themselves.

In the first days of the festival, so many people came, even more than planned, so not everyone had enough equipment. Participants were given polo T-shirts, sweatshirts, vests, caps, bags, Irbis smartphones with festival symbols and gift boxes containing diaries, pens, colored pencils and, most importantly, a badge for a participant in the World Festival of Youth and Students. They also gave out free tickets to attractions at Sochi Park, known as the best amusement park in Russia.

It was not so easy to get to the opening and closing ceremonies of the festival. Since Russia was the host country, most of the tickets were given to foreign participants and guests. As a result, not all Russian participants were able to attend the ceremony; each delegation was allocated a certain number of tickets. And then they were distributed - sometimes by drawing lots, sometimes through selection according to their own internal criteria.
The opening ceremony was designed as a theatrical performance with show elements, with thematic designation of pressing problem areas in the world: ecology, poverty, education, energy, information, science. Russian President Vladimir Putin also made a welcoming speech and announced the opening of the festival. And at the closing ceremony, the main characters of the closing ceremony were the participants, volunteers of the festival and music - as one of the main elements that unites people around the world.

Each day at the festival was dedicated to certain continents and countries. For example, October 15 was Middle East Day, October 16 was America's Day, October 17 was Africa Day, October 19 was Asia and Oceania Day, and October 20 was Europe Day. And finally, October 21 is Russia Day. On each of these days, the history, politics, art, and culture of those countries located on the selected continents were studied. Literally in the corridors of the huge media center they sang songs, danced, played games and did much more, thereby showing the unity and friendship of peoples.
Despite the fact that there were disadvantages, we all received a lot of impressions from the festival. We gained some experience, new acquaintances (mere communication with Christophe from Jamaica was worth it, and he is also a deaf lawyer in his country), new ideas, emotions, motivation and inspiration! I would like to thank all the organizers of such a cool festival, all the volunteers, speakers, participants and deaf friends who were with us for 10 days! Without all of you, such an unforgettable festival would not have taken place!

Becoming a participant in the XIX World Festival of Youth and Students is an honorable mission. We have already made history for at least the first twenty years of the 21st century! And perhaps as the first deaf participants to participate in such a festival. Of course, we are all proud to have attended this large-scale event. We also went there with the goal of being an example for other deaf people. We wanted to try it on ourselves and show that it is possible for deaf people to attend such international festivals if they only have a strong desire!
We want and encourage deaf youth to apply and participate in various hearing forums and festivals! So that there are more of us deaf people there, so that everyone can see us - and know that our youth are also active and strong in their work. Because it is at events among the hearing people that you can see and gain much more knowledge, experience and connections that can help you in your future activities. There is no need to be shy about such events, you need to get out of your comfort zone and go against everything! And then the deaf will be equal to everyone else, because together we are strong!
