In a July interview with Vice, the rapper, who often addressed topics of depression and drug use in his lyrics, spoke about the problems gnawing at him.

The rapper’s drug addiction has been known for a long time; he has raised this topic more than once in his work and wrote about it in his blogs on social networks, calling himself a “productive drug addict.” He urged his fans not to take drugs, but he himself, apparently, could not cope with the addiction. Lil Peep has become in many ways the face of this trend - and therefore will be remembered primarily as the artist who brought emo culture back to the masses; in his tracks, the music that was popular in 2007-2008 took on a new form in the tracks. Lil Peep set sad lyrics - mostly about depression, despair, angst and drugs - over instrumentals that sounded a lot like emo icons My Chemical Romance. And in many ways they were about himself:
